Jacintha Lazarus – A leader in deeds

~ T. Zamlunmang Zou

The Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Miss Jacintha Lazarus has proved one of the world’s famous quote “Action speaks louder than words” by showing what civil service or servant is all about within a short span of time.

She not only set her foots till the far flung areas of our district but also took the bold initiative for the reforestation of our deforested administrative centre of the district i.e. Lamka. Her action on July 13 2010 took the people of Churachandpur in surprise. Jacintha Lazarus braved torrential rain to take a firsthand account on the progress of her pet project of nurturing a leafy catchment area. Accompanied by a handful of officials and her private security personnel, the lady administrator walked along the marshy terrain to reach the catchment area of the district Zone II water source. Walking for more than a kilometre through the barren jungle on foot under the heavy downpower, Jacintha was soaked from tip-to-toe. Undeterred, she also strolled along a ’shaktiman’ path used for quarrying in an attempt to halt the practice. Lazarus’s expedition was a matchless devotion from the country’s elite bureaucrats, and what’s more is the fact that it was from a one of the few lady from the elite group.

Lalpa tello that tum zawng engmah lo mai ani

~ Pupu Zou

Wherever I am, while driving, working, eating and even in the meeting, this beautiful and straight to the point song strongly haunts my heart and soul. I used to keep musing the whole day, it echoes and re-echoed time after time. Epecially, I like this stanza: Nitinin ka nunnah duhthlan tur a awm a, Tisa duhna leh thlarau duhna a ni; Thil tha tih ka tum changin thil tha lo ka ti thin, Tisa duhna in min hneh fo thin a. *That ka tum ve leh ka sual thin, Thil tha tih theih na reng ka nei lo; Lalpa tello that tum zawng engmah lo mai ani, Aw Lalpa nang chauh ka that na i ni.

Free translation of the first two stanza: There's a choice to choose in my daily life, the choice of flesh desires and spiritual way. Whenever i long to do good deeds, the flesh desires overpower me and i often did wrong things. When i try to be good, i often commit sins, i, by myself have no power to do good things wichout the help of God.

Walking Down The Memory Lane

At the very outset, let us travel down the poem composed by Spandan Bhattacharyya:

Travelling down the memory lane is not all black 'n white.
Travelling down the memory lane is not all lacking light.

Travelling down the memory lane is not eye filled with tears.
Travelling down the memory lane brings fresh and soothing air.

Travelling down the memory lane is college, fun and friend.
Travelling down the memory lane is full of curves and bends.

Travelling down the memory lane is a test of time and mind
Travelling down the memory lane is a joy of it's kind.

From Zero Ibobi to Hero Ibobi: What a Privilege!

~ Tungnung Zamlunmang Zou @ Pupu Zou

We all know, Oh! not only the Manipuris but also people from outside the state of Manipur knew that the Chief Minister of Manipur, Mr. Okram Ibobi Singh was at the zero level before the Mr. Th. Muivah plans to visit his ancestral villege i.e. Somdal in Ukhrul District of Manipur.

Until recently, Manipur witnesses burning of Chief Minister's effigy, demonstrations against congress led government, bandhs anainst fake encounters, general strikes agianst non-payment of salaries, pen down strkies against non adoption of the priviledge for the state employess and whats not? The Chief Minister was totally Zero, his head must be boiling with loads of demands, lack of governance and financial shortages.

The Bible, Nagaland and Its Neighbouring States Situation

In the Bible, it is written:

You shall not covet your neighbor’s house;
you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife,
or his manservant,
or his maidservant
or his ox, or his ass,
or anything that is your neighbor’s

Exodus 20:17 (RSV)
