TOWN PLANNING: WILL IT BE POSSIBLE?

Urban planning is a technical and political process concerned with the use of land, protection and use of the environment, public welfare, and the design of the urban environment, including air, water, and the infrastructure passing into and out of urban areas such as transportation, communications, and distribution. Keeping aside all this unavoidable processes, I would like to simply contribute what I have been thinking for the initial town of Lamka (Churachandpur) planning.

Lamka town of Churachandpur district is a fast developing district headquarter of Manipur. In spite of the high standard of living in the town, its planning needs to be improved and a poor infrastructure maintenance maligned the image. The town is now deadly congested, the main road needs to be expanded in order to accommodate vehicle traffic and human movement. Since the expansion of the roads are still a hanging dream, it would be wise if the administration could take up alteration of the passenger vehicle's parking coming from different directions.

1. Imphal - CCpur bus and winger parking at Tuibuang.
2. Behiang, Singngat - Lamka passengar vehicles at Thingkangphai or ??
3. Guite line passenger vehicles at Bungmual or Pearsonmun
4. Sugnu-Lamka line passenger vehicles at Rengkai

OUR STUPIDITY IS OUR PROBLEM!

My perception might not be the best, it might not the be worst either. As the saying goes, a drop of water makes an ocean. I would like to share few of my viewpoints on our general problem as a society with special reference to Churachandpur district. Let me make it as  detail and precise as possible.

1. Churachandpur district exist with an administrative set-up and a law keeping security forces to look after the law and order in particular. We are suppose to take their help in maintaining law and order in our district. But, we are using them as the observer of our stupidity at our present situation.

2. Everything has been communalized, if any incident happens - it is communalized. If any street fighting happens - it is communalized. Warning one another, no one is scare of nobody because even the most lunatic person knows it will be communalized.

Therefore,

Let us learn to respect one another, let us learn to solve any cases as per it is necessary to be handle. Let us learn how to use the existing law and order through the law enforcers. Let us stop warning one another. If any street fighting happens, lets us report to the police and let the police handle the case.

On the other hand, let the law and order keeping force equip themselves to handle any case in a democratic way but not a barbaric method.

Manipur tribal's desire to Separate Administration gain momentum

Manipur, which is inhabited by the Meitei, Kuki and Naga had a long history together, be it peaceful co-existence or minor misunderstandings since time immemorial. The recent three bills viz. The Protection of Manipur People Bill 2015, The Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms 7th Amendment Bill 2015 and The Manipur Shops and Establishment (2nd Amendment) Bill 2015 makes the tribal thinks that they are being cornered by the Government of Manipur and their desire for separate administration gains momentum after NINE person sacrificed their precious life, which the tribal give them the honour of Tribal Martyrs.

Lets see what the Tribal students in Manipur think about the bills:

Disaster alarm in Churachandpur district

To what extend are we prepared to face Natural Disasters?

- T. Zamlunmang Zou @ Pupu Zou

Khuga river where one human life was lost on 01-08-2015
Churachandpur, popularly known as the second largest town of the state currently tastes the iceberg of what a natural disaster is! The magnitude of what we presently experience is so small that, it is not fit to be called natural disaster, but manmade disaster. Those eye witnesses said, Lanva stream was over-flowed due to excessive encroachment by the nearby residents, while Tuitha River inundated several residential areas due to the release of water from Khuga Dam water reservoir. At the very outset, let us see the demographic details of our district.
